Harry Potter Gag Order? Yeah, I'm Gagging.

Oh, please. A supermarket in Canada accidentally sold 14 copies of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince early, so...

Justice Kristi Gill last Saturday ordered customers not to talk about the book, copy it, sell it or even read it before it is officially released at 12:01 a.m. July 16.

Ordered by a judge not to read it? Could we just all get over ourselves already? Maybe I'm the only one, but Harry Potter is starting to get on my nerves.

Update: It looks as though Joel Stein might be sick of Harry, too.

Update: My increasing distate for Harry is shared by many. [via Bookslut]

Trackback Excerpt: I really wish I has some/any fabulous topics, something that would really spark some conversation.. but, alas, I do not. Could it be that I - Queen MOtormouth - have *finally* run out of things to discuss? Oh, I know......

Can that even be legal? How can a judge tell people not to use an item they've bought, paid for and taken home?

It must be legal in Canada since that's where this happened. If I were one of the buyers, I'd go ahead and start reading. The real issue should be between the publisher and the supermarket, not with the buyers.

Daisy, I've been trying to leave a comment on your site but nothing happens when I click on the link. What am I doing wrong?

The whole Harry thing got so over-hyped with the first book, it totally turned me off. I was going to read it- but then backed off. Two years later I finally got around to reading the thing...it was ok. But it's a kids book. I have a family member who just ADORES each & every subsequent edition. whatever.

I like kids' books, but the Potter thing has been out of hand for way too long. I read the first two books and have the next two in a TBR pile, but life is too short to commit the rest of it to Harry Potter. There are too many other, better books out there to read.

Marydell, someone else told me the same thing! I'm not sure what could be wrong. I have no trouble with comments from my work or home computers. Is it just my site or all blogspot URLs?

Daisy, I'll send you an e-mail on this one.

Over Harry Potter? C'mon, people.

Enygma, I'm so glad the eve of the release has finally arrived. The sooner the faithful get their books and start reading, the sooner we'll all move on with our lives and not have to hear about it any longer.

Of course, the hype will start up again for the release of the next book. Please, let it be the last one.

Only one more book to go! I really do enjoy the books from the safety of my home. I don't wear a wizards cape or carry a wand either. LOL. Now that would be scary!

Marydell,
That comment was actually directed towards the articles you posted up, not at you guys. I hope you didn't get offended. Personally, I find the books pretty entertaining, though the last one was a bit subpar, imo. Anyway, I just think that the hype is overblown and people are getting really carried away over nothing. Anyway, I wasn't sure if you were offended by the comment because that really wasn't my intent. :)

Enygma, I don't think anyone was offended.

I agree that everyone is too into Harry, but I guess I got carried away myself since I went to the midnight release. Of course, I was only there for journalistic reasons.

:)

what does "only one more book to go" mean?

there will finally be a last harry potter book soon??

Rowling has said that there will be 7 books in the series, but it will probably be another 5 years before it's published. They better hurry because those kids are getting a bit too old to keep doing the movies.

only seven books?

oh, it felt like much more.
