Another recruit

Wow! We’ve got another new recruit. Danielle has decided to join our little club because she’s an avid reader and, like the rest of us, has been wanting a forum in which to discuss what she’s read. She’s also a graduate student and is looking for interesting books to read outside of her usual course work. I’m sure we’ll be able to meet both of those needs.

Danielle stumbled onto our site via this path: Gigglechick, Katespot, and then here. With this, Kate has joined Jeff in the illustrious ranks of being a recruiter for BookBlog.

Welcome, Danielle!

Welcome, Danielle! (And good work, Kate!) Glad to have you aboard. :)

Hey, while I'm here, instead of starting a new topic, I'm just gonna squeeze in a thought about this month's selection, A Confederacy of Dunces. When I went to my local Barnes & Noble last week to pick up this book, they had three versions: a "20th anniversary" hard cover for, like, $25; a paperback (with the same cover Mary has posted on our book blog home page) for $14 or $15; and a small, odd-sized, hardcover "bargain" version over in their sale section for $11. I went with the $11 blue light special, even though it seems cheaply made, because the printing on the pages in both copies of the paperback they had on hand was terrible -- the ink looked like it had soaked into the paper, making the type all blurry and unfocused.

Anyhow, I'm telling you all of this so that, in case you don't have the book yet, and you find similarly poorly printed copies of the paperback, you'll know there is a more legible (and cheaper!) alternative -- probably, depending on their stock -- on the bargain shelves at a Barnes & Noble near you. That's it! Over and out.

Thanks Jeff! I do my best! ::grin::
Hiya Danielle! This is a great forum. Mary has done an awesome job here.

: - )

PS - Yes, I am sucking up to Mary to make up for all the Trading Spaces comments in the previous post.

Hey, what you guys choose to discuss during non-book time is up to you. No sucking up required.

I pass the mantle of newness onto Danielle. Welcome from almost new guy. :^) Hope your graduate studies do not get too much in the way, I know it can get intense. What exactly are you studying?

Mary, you need to add Rich to your illustrious list of recruiters, since it was his blog that led me here.

And I am glad to see I did not lead Kate too far astray with my Trading Spaces comments. One of these days I probably should find someway to express myself in print without it having to be in comments. WAIT A MINUTE! I COULD DO A BLOG! :^D One day, perhaps...

Welcome! I will see what I can do to recruit as well. Heck, Mary, you may have to get two moderators going at once at this rate. There will be a bunch of us!

Peace from Virginia. I go back to Chicago in a week. Mixed feelings abound.

That's right, Hunter. Props to Rich for also bringing another great new member aboard. If everyone keeps recruiting like this, we're going to be on top of a veritable book blogging empire.

Heh. Welcome, Danielle, amid all this congratulatory backslapping. :-) Always glad for new blood in the group.

C'mon Hunter.. why not a blog??
