An Introduction to Gwen

1. I found BookBlog while searching for a journal that had disappeared.
2. My sister says my bookshelves look like that
Best Novels of the 20th Century list.
3. Yes, I've read them.
4. No, I didn't like all of them, but I never throw anything away (you should see my record collection).
5. Our dad read to us every night from six to seven (a grade-school sampling: Toynbee's The Study of History, The Iliad, Dante's Inferno, everything Edgar Rice Burroughs ever wrote), a practice I was subject to well into high school, and something I am still working through with my therapist.
6. I don't actually go to a therapist, though I tried once.
7. I live in Oakland, California, with my pre-teen daughter and my handsome boyfriend, and their evil cats. I am a graphic designer, which means I spend a lot of time reading. I also write in my journal about as often as I re-design it, and set a very bad example for the other authors of the group journal I run by not writing very often at all.

Gwen, welcome!

I also set a very bad example around here. The place is pretty much dead during non-discussion days, and I tell myself to post daily just to keep people interested in visiting the site. However, I never do. If I get something up here once a week, it's monumental.

Hi, Gwen! Welcome. Good to have you here.

(And hey -- quit making us look bad by being enthusiastic and stuff. The whole point of bookblog is to make Mary's head explode.)

(Oh, hell -- was that out loud? Damn.)

Hi Gwen. Hmmm So...are you sure you don't want to give that ol' therapy deal another try? ;)
That's my smart-alecky way of saying WELCOME!Look forward to your joining us.

Hey Sarah - Good one!

Welcome, Gwen! Here's hoping we actually get some discussion going soon (mary carmen, where are you?!?), so you can see how we (dys)function in real time. :-)

Welcome aboard Gwen!

Actually, my head is about to explode right now because there is no discussion going on. I sent Mary Carmen an e-mail but haven't heard back from her yet. Let's give her until noon tomorrow. If she doesn't surface, I'll start the discussion.

Hi Gwen! Welcome! I think the real scoop here is that when it's dry it a virtual desert, but then there is the deluge. I like to think of bookblog like the Nile. The analogy applies on several levels. (sorry for all the puns - I'm feeling withdrawal symptoms, they go over the heads of my students)
