Moderators Needed

Before we get started in on the next discussion, anyone interested in volunteering for November or another future month? I took October only because I was too lazy to look for a volunteer, but we need more than just one book over on that sidebar. Anyone?

hello
i've been sorta absent.
getting back on track.
i volunteer for February...i know it's far off into the future, but i call for Feb!

oh, i just wanted to share with everyone some exciting news!
chuck palahniuk will be discussing his latest novel Diary at my University this coming thursday! and there will be free copies for the first 100 students. Hope i make it in time! He will also be reading from Diary that evening at a theater in town. Cool, huh? what a coincidence--with Mary choosing Fight Club for october.

I'll volunteer to moderate November. How about "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" by Mark Haddon?

And I'll take December. I've been absent, too and I'm wicked sorry. I'll do better. I'll try to think of a title....

Maya,

The Curious Incident... is on my TBR list. It would be great to get it off that pile and read.

Maya and Amy, you're both on.

Andrea, I haven't added you as a member yet even though you've already been participating. Same with you Maya. I'll work on it this weekend.

:)

Ana, I love Chuck. His use of language is refreshing because the overblown prose some authors construct to fill endless pages with beautiful words that mean absolutely nothing gets tiring after a while. Chuck sort of bluntly makes his point and moves on, and I like to think of him as more of a "writer" than an "author."

How did the talk go?

mary,

unfortunately, the discussion was canceled due to Chuck getting sick. how disappointing. :(

I posted here a while ago and asked to be a member of the community, but I had to go through a "trial period" first. I've been completely unable to participate in any discussions, so it's a REALLY good thing you screen people first.

I haven't finished Fried Green and I know it's late but I'll post my thoughts when I'm through anyway. But if I may make some recommendations for next year, as it is. Everything is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer, Bel Canto by Ann Pachett, and The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. Maybe if I can keep up I might host a discussion next year! Hope so!

Ok, we have moderators for October, November, and December...as well as for February. I will volunteer for January, it's my birthday month! I'm STILL waiting for my Fight Club to arrive, they had it on backorder. I didn't realize it until today and I doubt I'll be able to go out and get a copy, I may have to sit this month out...which sucks. Let me know if you need me for January and I'll get on figuring out a book.

I agree with the Dog Night book, I've wanted to read it as well!
