That Was the What

I think we've reached a consensus, What is the What was not one of our favorite books so far. Hmm...I definitely prefer Jonathan Safran Foer. I believe that he gets grouped with Dave Eggers, Jonathan Lethem (I enjoy his short stories), and Zadie Smith, although I've yet to read a Smith.

Thanks for choosing this book since I'm glad I read it, despite my mixed feelings and desire to point out its flaws. It got me thinking and even helped me learn some new things. I'm with you, though, in preferring Jonathan Safran Foer as an author.

Since you bring up Zadie Smith, I have to say that I did not like anything about White Teeth. All the characters were vile people. On Beauty got a lot of press, which sort of makes me want to read it, but my dislike of her debut leads me to believe I'd be wasting my time.
